Mercury Cutting Calif Auto And Home Insurance Rates
Insurance rates are dropping for about 1.7 million Mercury auto and home policyholders in California.
The auto rate reductions are based partially on new state criteria that diminish the importance of the postal ZIP Code where a car is typically parked overnight.
California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner says “Mercury is exemplifying consumer-friendly and smart business practices by passing company savings on to their policyholders.”
The lower auto rates went into effect last month. Mercury’s new rates for homeowner insurance take effect in August. They will drop by 10 percent for 224,000 customers.
