Ford Recalls About 225,000 Already-Repaired Vehicles for Wiring

Feb. 3 (Bloomberg) — Ford Motor Co. is recalling about
225,000 vehicles, most of them E-Series vans, to fix wiring that
doesn;t protect fuses from shorting out, company spokesman Wes
Sherwood said.
The vehicles had already been part of a recall of 9.5
million cars and light trucks since 1999 to repair a potentially
dangerous defect in cruise-control switches, Sherwood said in a
telephone interview. New wiring was installed in the vehicles to
fix that fault.
The latest problem was discovered during repairs at
dealerships, he said. All of the wiring came from a single auto-
parts maker, whom Sherwood declined to identify. No accidents or
injuries have been reported with the defect, he said.
The vehicles affected are 185,000 E-Series from the 1992 to
2003 model years; 1993-1995 Ford Taurus SHO; 1992-1998 Ford Crown
Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis; 1992-1995 Lincoln Town Car;
1993 Ford Bronco; 1993 Ford Super Duty; and 1995-1997 Ford Super
Duty, Sherwood said. The Super Duty models affected are gasoline-
engine only versions, not diesel, he said.
