Women Accused Of Trying To Pass Bogus Prescriptions

Two Bridgewater women face a string of criminal charges after they allegedly stole a prescription pad from a doctor’s office and attempted to get drugs at several pharmacies.

Police arrested the pair on June 4, one day after the pad went missing from a Bridgewater physician’s office.

A 46-year-old woman, whose identity has not been released because the charges have not been laid, is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater provincial court July 23.

Following the arrests, officers discovered the second woman, 23-year-old Kandis Starr Guitare, had outstanding warrants on earlier charges. She spent the night in custody and appeared in provincial court on June 5. She was released on a recognizance and is scheduled to return to court June 25.

Ms Guitare is charged with stealing a prescription pad and three counts of attempting to pass forged prescriptions at pharmacies at Wal-Mart, Atlantic Superstore and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Her earlier charges - which were also adjourned until June 25 - include theft of electronics in April 2007 and a number of charges from September. She is accused of having two stolen credit cards and with using those cards to defraud an auto service, Empire Theatres, Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation, Shoppers Drug Mart, Stitches, Eclipse, Athletes World, Zellers, Gow’s Home Hardware and Atlantic Superstore.
